We sit at the intersection of sport and place designing bold and transformative strategies for sports led destinations.
Sport⁺ were founded and incubated by Future Places Studio, an independent built environment consultancy established in 2016.
Future Places Studio have spent the last decade working across Local Authorities, investors, developers and local communities to bring forward wider regeneration and development projects. Many of the learnings and approaches applied in the work at Future Places Studio are replicable in our work at Sport⁺.
Our studio is based in London however we work across the UK and are increasingly growing a global portfolio of projects.
The projects that we work on illustrate a creative and innovative approach to how elite sport is increasingly thinking about its relationship with place and in turn the modern role that it can play as a responsible local anchor.
We believe parallels can be drawn from this new model of sports-led placemaking to the socially responsible property developer where thinking beyond the traditional ‘red line boundary’ and working in partnership can create opportunities to access funding and increase the scope for developing vital infrastructure.
Our founding principle is that sport should be an anchor to stimulate and enable wider place-based investment and growth. Realising this principle requires partnership working between the sports sector, local municipalities and sometimes national government.
Our role is often to sit at the point of intersection between these different players to ensure that projects can be realised for the good of sport and place.
